XDC Dallas September 2010

After Summit Points amazing performance I’d really had my hopes up about XDC Dallas. Being in my hometown I felt I just had to put on a good show. The car did awesome in practice, got the course down no problem. It started off as a 2nd gear entry and ended up as a 4th gear upshift. During practice we got heavily rained out but that didn’t stop us. All the Texas guys got together and had a blast

During qualifying my line and the car felt awesome, zero temp issues (partially due to cooler weather) and no problems with the course at all. I ended up taking 4th place qualifying position which I was very pleased with. We drove up to do driver introductions for the top 16 drivers and had to drive back to the pits to get paired up for tandem. On my way over to the pits I gently and slowly shifted to 2nd gear driving perfectly normal when my ring & pinion both let go at once. We found a differential in the pits and I immediately got down under the car swapping it under but just barely didn’t get it done within the allotted 5 minute repair rule. If I’d only had 2 more minutes it would’ve been done for sure which is definitely an upset. Anyways, here are some shots capturing some of the action of the weekend and of the newfound “terminator” style my car took on due to clipping a cone on my 2nd qualifying run

And the day ruining pinion gear that stripped clean
